I’m always sceptical when I read recommendations about skincare. Call me a pessimist, but I don’t *always* believe the truth in beauty reviews. After all, the beauty industry is a billion-dollar business! Maybe I know too much about the dark side ~ marketing ~ behind this industry to believe what anyone says online.
Or maybe I just don’t subscribe to the notion of a one size fits all skincare solution.
Let me say this much: I have tried every single one of these products for at least three months. I am obsessed with every single one of them.
Some of them were gifts from brands, but none of them paid me to feature them or write a review. Many of the products I have indeed paid for myself and I’ll be honest when I say some of them are an investment (codeword for expensive).
But if they’re recommended here, they’re that good that I personally would and do invest in refills for these products.
Moon Juice Acid Potion
I’ll start with the Moon Juice Acid Potion, a ridiculously potent concoction that zaps zits. No joke.
This resurfacing exfoliator is powerful stuff.
So powerful, in fact, that I am really quite surprised you can buy it over the counter. But hey, I’m not complaining. I’ve been saving hundreds of dollars on facials by using this stuff instead (it really is that good!) The only disclaimer I have on this product is that you’ll need to stay out of the sun for a few days after you use it.
This is a resurfacing exfoliator which means it will work wonders for your skin and detoxify impurities, but it will also make you skin vulnerable for a few days after. It’s fine, take this as an excuse to stay indoors and nest.
Moon Juice Cosmic Cream
Moon Juice Cosmic Cream is the best moisturiser I’ve ever had in my beauty bag. And believe me, I’ve tried a few. I have always invested in expensive moisturisers as they are the best way to protect and nourish your skin throughout the day. And while this Moon Juice moisturiser is not the most expensive brand I’ve used, it is certainly the best. This is a new staple in my skincare routine that I’ll be refilling for years to come.
Eve Lom Moisture Mask
Eve Lom Moisture Mask is another good choice if you don’t fancy Moon Juice products. I’ve been obsessed with Eve Lom since my friend Emma suggested their milky cleanser, which has been in my beauty bag for a few years now.
Omorovicza Vitamin C Serum
Omorovicza Illumineye Vitamin C Serum is an investment worth making for women in their late twenties and early thirties who are just starting to see signs of ageing around the eyes. In fact, if you can get onto this product sooner (in your early twenties), you go glen coco! I wish I had have started using eye serums earlier in my twenties, but there’s just no way I would have listened to any advice until I started to see the signs of ageing myself.
Omorovicza Deep Cleanse Masque
Omorovicza Deep Cleanse Masque is a game changer if you want to ditch beauty salon facials and DIY at home. I apply this mask once a week while I’m in the tub, so it really gets into my pores and draws out all of the impurities. It is thick and rich, leaving your skin feeling velvety smooth afterwards. A total essential in my once a week bath routine.
Sunday Riley face oil
Sunday Riley face oil is in my humble opinion, the best value for money on the market. I’ve been using their face oils for years now and I can’t see myself stopping any time soon. Just be sure to apply your face oils with moisturiser, by blending the two in your hands before applying to the face and neck. This will essentially “lock in” the oils and you’ll really start to maximise the benefits.
Femmue Rose Sleeping Mask
Femmue Rose Sleeping Mask is the easiest way to wake up feeling like you’ve got a new face. Seriously! This powerful face mask not only smells good when you are applying it (umm hello Rose), but it will also perform miracles while you sleep.
French Girl Sea Salts
French Girl Rose Sea Salts are the ultimate indulgence. I’m counting them as part of my skincare obsessions because I bathe in them once a week and there’s a whole body of skin to consider beyond your face! I find them incredibly relaxing but also love the way my skin feels after stepping out of the tub. A total luxury!
A Rose Quarts Gua Sha
Rose Quarts Gua Sha is another obsession of mine and one I have had to defend to my girlfriends who look at it with obvious scepticism. The truth is, they really work. You just need to commit to incorporating the gua sha into your skincare routine at least a few times a week to see results. These are best used with face oils like those from Sunday Riley for smooth gliding across the face in an outward motion.
